Fetlock
Fetlock ist der gemeinsame Name für die metakarpophalangealen und metatarsophalangealen Gelenke von Pferden, großen Tieren und manchmal Hunden. Es wird durch die Kreuzung der dritten Metacarpal oder Metatarsal Knochen proximad und der proximalen Phalanx distad gebildet. Gepaarte proximale Sesamoidknochen artikulieren mit der palmar- oder plantaren distalen Oberfläche des dritten Metakarpal- oder Metatarsalknochens und sind starr an der proximo-palmar / -plantarischen Kante der proximalen Phalanx befestigt. Der Fetlock ist ein Scharniergelenk, das Flexion und Erweiterung ermöglicht, aber minimale Rotation, Adduktion oder Abduktion. Während manchmal der Fetlock umgangssprachlich als "Knöchel" bezeichnet wird, auch von Pferdeexperten, ist diese Terminologie nicht korrekt. Der fetlock ist eigentlich ein metakarpophalangeales Gelenk, das dem menschlichen oberen Knöchel entspricht, wie das auf dem Fußball.

Andere Definition von Fessel ist auch genannt: Fesselgelenk. das Gelenk in diesem Teil des Beines. Fetlock ist auch der Haarbüschel, der aus diesem Teil wächst.
