Johannes Kepler
Johannes Kepler war ein deutscher Mathematiker, Astronom und Astrologe. Eine Schlüsselfigur in der wissenschaftlichen Revolution des 17. Jahrhunderts, ist er am besten für seine Gesetze der Planetenbewegung bekannt, basierend auf seinen Werken Astronomia Nova, Harmonien Mundi und Epitome der Kopernikanischen Astronomie. Diese Arbeiten lieferten auch eine der Grundlagen für Isaac Newtons Theorie der universellen Gravitation. Während seiner Karriere war Kepler Mathematiklehrer an einer Seminarschule in Graz, wo er Gesellschafter von Fürst Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg wurde. Später wurde er Assistent des Astronomen Tycho Brahe und schließlich der kaiserliche Mathematiker zu Kaiser Rudolf II. Und seinen beiden Nachfolgern Matthias und Ferdinand II. Er war auch Mathematiklehrer in Linz, Österreich und Berater des General Wallenstein. Darüber hinaus hat er grundlegende Arbeit auf dem Gebiet der Optik, erfand eine verbesserte Version des brechenden Teleskops und erwähnte die teleskopischen Entdeckungen seiner zeitgenössischen Galileo Galilei. Kepler lebte in einer Zeit, in der es keine klare Unterscheidung zwischen Astronomie und Astrologie gab, aber es gab eine starke Trennung zwischen Astronomie und Physik.
