Microcode
Microcode ist eine Schicht von Hardware-Level-Anleitungen oder Datenstrukturen, die an der Implementierung von übergeordneten Maschinencode-Anweisungen in zentralen Verarbeitungseinheiten beteiligt sind, und bei der Implementierung der internen Logik von vielen Kanalcontrollern, Plattencontrollern, Netzwerkschnittstellensteuerungen, Netzwerkprozessoren, Grafik-Processing-Einheiten und andere Hardware. Das Schreiben von Mikrocode wird oft als Mikroprogrammierung bezeichnet und der Mikrocode in einer bestimmten Prozessorimplementierung wird manchmal als Mikroprogramm bezeichnet.
