Ein Streitwagen ist ein zweirädriger Kriegswagen, der von zwei Pferden gefahren wird, ähnlich einem Streitwagen. Einige ältere Modelle könnten sogar vier Räder haben, obwohl diese im Allgemeinen nicht als Streitwagen bezeichnet werden. Die Erfindung, die die Konstruktion dieser leichten Autos für militärische Zwecke potenzierte, war die Verwendung von Felgen am Rad. Zu dieser Zeit konnten die meisten Pferde das Gewicht eines Mannes im Kampf nicht ertragen; das ursprüngliche wilde Pferd war in der Tat ein großes Pony in der Größe. Die Streitwagen waren vor allem auf flachen und offenen Gelände wirksam. Die Pferde wurden allmählich gefüttert, um größer und stärker zu werden. Es war die Verwendung von Streitwagen, die später die Entstehung von Kavallerie in den militärischen Divisionen stärkte. Die Radfeuer mit Reifen stammen von etwa 2000 v. Chr. Und ihre größte Nutzung scheint um 1300 v.

Foi a utilização das bigas que potenciou mais tarde o surgimento da cavalaria nas divisões militares. As bigas de roda com aros datam de cerca de 2000 a.C. e a sua maior utilização parece ter-se verificado a cerca de 1300 a.C..
