chemotaxis

Chemotaxis

Chemotaxis refers to the influencing of the direction of movement of living organisms or cells by material concentration gradients. If the movement in such a gradient towards higher concentrations of the substance is controlled, this is referred to as positive chemotaxis and is called the relevant substance attractant or attractant. If the movement is directed in the opposite direction, the negative chemotaxis and the substance or repellent are mentioned. Positive chemotaxis can turn into a negative at a high concentration of a substance.
