et al.

Et al., Rarely published et alii, et aliae or et alia, is Latin and literally means "u. A. "," And others ". It is used above all in bibliographical and legal data, if not all persons involved are to be named, want or can. Usually, all authors are published in a bibliography, but only the first authors and the year are listed in the sources behind the quotation or the content. In this case, up to two authors are mostly written out, but only three authors, the first one with the addition "et al.". In the German region, three authors are still being published, but only four authors are mentioned as the first author with the addition "et al.". The order of the authors is the one used in the work itself, not an alphabetical one. For example, an article with more than three authors can be referenced with "". For more than three authors, only the first author can be mentioned in the bibliography.

et al., selten ausgeschrieben et alii, et aliae oder et alia, ist Lateinisch und bedeutet wortwörtlich „u. a.“, „und andere“. Es wird vor allem bei bibliographischen und juristischen Angaben verwendet, wenn nicht alle beteiligten Personen genannt werden sollen, wollen oder können. Üblicherweise werden in einem Literaturverzeichnis alle Autoren ausgeschrieben, in der Quellenangabe hinter dem Zitat oder der inhaltlichen Behauptung jedoch nur die ersten Autoren und das Jahr. Hierbei werden bis zu zwei Autoren meist ausgeschrieben, ab drei Autoren jedoch nur der erste mit dem Zusatz „et al.“. Im deutschen Raum werden oft auch drei Autoren noch ausgeschrieben, ab vier Autoren aber wird nur mehr der erste Autor mit dem Zusatz „et al.“ genannt. Die Reihenfolge der Autoren ist dabei die im Werk selbst verwendete, nicht etwa eine alphabetische. Auf einen Artikel mit mehr als drei Autoren kann im Text zum Beispiel mit „“ verwiesen werden. Bei mehr als drei Autoren ist auch in der Bibliografie nur der erste Autor zu nennen.
