phosphatases

Phosphatasen

Phosphatases are a group of enzymes that split phosphoric acid by water transfer from phosphoric acid esters or polyphosphates. They perform, so to speak, the reverse reaction of a kinase. The best known representatives of this group are the enzymes acidic phosphatase and alkaline phosphatase, which are named according to their pH optimum. Most common are the nucleic acid cleaving nucleases that depolymerize DNA or RNA, H. Into pieces. They belong to the enzyme class EC 3.1.
