WHAT DOES ACETYLIDE MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Acetylide

Acetylide (systematically named ethynediide, and dicarbide(2−)) is an inorganic anion with the chemical formula C2− 2. It contributes no colour to acetylide salts. It is classified as a strong base. Such anions result from the removal of one or two protons from acetylene C2H2. Acetylide also refers to the anion of the formula RC≡C−, where R is an organic substituent. Acetylides are useful reagents in organic chemistry. Some acetylides are notoriously explosive.

Definition of acetylide in the English dictionary

The definition of acetylide in the dictionary is any of a class of carbides in which the carbon is present as a diatomic divalent ion. They are formally derivatives of acetylene.
