Epact

The epact has been described as the age of the moon in days on January 1, and occurs primarily in connection with tabular methods for determining the date of Easter. It varies from year to year, because of the difference between the solar year of 365–366 days and the lunar year of 354–355 days.

Definition of epact in the English dictionary

The first definition of epact in the dictionary is the difference in time, about 11 days, between the solar year and the lunar year. Other definition of epact is the number of days between the beginning of the calendar year and the new moon immediately preceding this. Epact is also the difference in time between the calendar month and the synodic month.
