WHAT DOES GODDESS MEAN IN ENGLISH?

goddess

Goddess

A goddess is a female deity with supernatural powers. In some cultures goddesses are associated with earth, motherhood, fertility, love, and vegetation. In other cultures, Goddesses also rule over war, death and destruction, as well as creation, healing, compassion and life. They may be the focus of religious worship or reverence. Artistic depictions of goddesses are common in the cultures who honour them. In some religions, a sacred female figure holds a central place in prayer and worship. Shaktism - the worship of the female force that animates the world - is one of the three major sects of Hinduism. In Tibetan Buddhism, the highest advancement any person can achieve is to become like the great female Buddhas who are depicted as being supreme protectors, fearless and filled with compassion for all beings. The primacy of a monotheistic or near-monotheistic "Great Goddess" is advocated by some modern matriarchists as a female version of, preceding, or analogue to, the Abrahamic God associated with the historical rise of monotheism in the Mediterranean Axis Age. Most Modern Pagan traditions honour a goddess, or multiple goddeses.

1
Banks
Being brave enough to just be unapologetic for who you are, that's a goddess.
2
Bonnie Bedelia
Unless you burst into movies as a sex goddess, you're likely to play wives and mothers. I came into movies as a teenager in 'They Shoot Horses, Don't They' (1969) playing a pregnant waif from the Ozarks. I didn't get a chance to burst into movies in 'Body Heat.' My career isn't based on having a 23-inch waist and a big bust, though I do.

4
Raquel Cassidy
A high-powered, successful woman doesn't necessarily have the same support behind her that a man in that position would. Plus, she's expected to be a domestic goddess, as well as the best wife, mother, friend, and lover. But it's not just in politics: you see it in acting, too, and in journalism.
5

My wife and I had been to the genetic counselor; my wife is not Jewish - she's the shiksha goddess type - and was negative for everything. But I was positive. I carried the gene for three genetic disorders, which, if she had been positive for, we would have passed down to the child.
8
Alison Jackson
The religious imagery and fairytales that formed our shared cultural references have been replaced by the cult of celebrity. Marilyn is the sex goddess, Camilla Parker Bowles is cast as the wicked witch, Che Guevara is the revolutionary. Celebrities have become visual shorthand for narratives that shape our lives.
9
Kajol
I am mean; I'm nasty at times. I don't feel like talking to people at times. When I am in a bad mood and have had a really awful day, don't come in my face because I am not tolerant and I am not a goddess; I can't handle it after a point. I am going to get up, and I am going to scream, and I am going to say bad things to you.
10
Sylvia Kristel
You're much better off as a love goddess to die around the age of 40.
