WHAT DOES HETEROGENEITY MEAN IN ENGLISH?

heterogeneity

Homogeneity and heterogeneity

Homogeneity and heterogeneity are concepts relating to the uniformity in a substance. A material that is homogeneous is uniform in composition or character; one that is heterogeneous is distinctly nonuniform in one of these qualities. The words homogeneous and heterogeneous come from Medieval Latin homogeneus and heterogeneus, from Ancient Greek ὁμογενής and ἑτερογενής, from ὁμός and ἕτερος respectively, followed by γένος; -ous is an adjectival suffix. The concepts are the same to every level of complexity, from atoms to populations of animals or people, and galaxies. Hence, an element may be homogeneous on a larger scale, compared to being heterogeneous on a smaller scale. This is known as an effective medium approach, or effective medium approximations.

Definition of heterogeneity in the English dictionary

The first definition of heterogeneity in the dictionary is the fact or state of being composed of unrelated or differing parts or elements. Other definition of heterogeneity is the fact or state of being not of the same kind or type. Heterogeneity is also the fact or state of being of, composed of, or concerned with two or more different phases.
