WHAT DOES NEOPHOBIA MEAN IN ENGLISH?

Neophobia

Neophobia is the fear of anything new. It is also called cainotophobia or cainophobia. In psychology, neophobia is defined as the persistent and abnormal fear of anything new. In its milder form, it can manifest as the unwillingness to try new things or break from routine. Mild manifestations are often present in young children and elderly people. But neophobia could also be fear of losing what you have. e.g.: You are content with your life and you fear that if you change anything you might never be happy again. This is sometimes caused by earlier experiences of being emotionally hurt. In biomedical research, neophobia is often associated with the study of taste. Food neophobia is an important concern in pediatric psychology. Norway rats and house mice are thought to have evolved increased levels of neophobia as they became commensal with humans because humans were routinely devising new methods to eradicate them. Neophobia is also a common finding in aging animals, although apathy could also explain, or contribute to explain, the lack of exploratory drive systematically observed in aging.
