WHAT DOES OVARY MEAN IN ENGLISH?

ovary

Ovary

The ovary is an ovum-producing reproductive organ, often found in pairs as part of the vertebrate female reproductive system. Ovaries in female individuals are analogous to testes in male individuals, in that they are both gonads and endocrine glands. Although ovaries occur in a wide variety of animals, both vertebrate and invertebrate, this article is primarily about ovaries in humans.

Definition of ovary in the English dictionary

The first definition of ovary in the dictionary is either of the two female reproductive organs, which produce ova and secrete oestrogen hormones. Other definition of ovary is the corresponding organ in vertebrate and invertebrate animals. Ovary is also the hollow basal region of a carpel containing one or more ovules. In some plants the carpels are united to form a single compound ovary.
