short-wave

Shortwave radio

Shortwave radio refers to radio transmissions using shortwave frequencies. The widest popular definition of the shortwave frequency interval is the ITU Region 1 definition, and is the span 1.6–30 MHz. ca. 1.6 MHz is just above medium wave. There are also other definitions of the shortwave frequency interval: ▪ 1710 kHz to 30 MHz in ITU Region 2 ▪ 1800 kHz to 30 MHz ▪ 2300 kHz to 30 MHz ▪ 2300 kHz to 26.1 MHz ▪ In Germany and maybe Austria the ITU region 1 shortwave frequency interval can be subdivided in: ▪ de:Grenzwelle: 1.605-3.8 MHz and de:Kurzwelle 3.8-30 MHz ▪ Grenzwelle: 1.605-4 MHz and Kurzwelle 4-30 MHz ▪ In Germany these shortwave frequency intervals has also been seen used: ▪ 3-30 MHz - e.g. some could believe that the shortwave_frequency_interval=high_frequency, but in reality the shortwave frequency interval is a mess, and therefore the shortwave frequency interval can not be exactly equal high frequency.
