The Wisconsinite was an independent newspaper published from February 2004 to July 2004. The publication was presented in an alternative newspaper format, featuring a cover story, feature story, local and state news, opinion columns, music and arts news and commentary, movie reviews, restaurant reviews and food news, cartoons, and an entertainment calendar. Published in a tabloid format, the paper ranged between 24 and 36 pages in length. The Wisconsinite was printed and distributed in Madison, with copies also distributed in Milwaukee, as well as in limited numbers to the Fox Valley and La Crosse. All issues were available for free. The cover stories of The Wisconsinite featured: ▪ February 17, 2004: "Drifting through Baghdad": A Wisconsinite observes life in Baghdad during the first year of the U.S. occupation of Iraq. ▪ March 2, 2004: "Dr No and the spectre of ALEC": An investigation into the influence of the American Legislative Exchange Council in the Wisconsin legislature. ▪ March 16, 2004: "The War on Terror, The Musical! An antigovernment rock 'nroll revue!: A profile and interview of The Paragraphs, a band from Milwaukee.
