The fixation is a concept used in psychoanalysis to denominate the attachment of the libido to certain people, imagos or psychic representations of the objects. Sigmund Freud refers to it as: Fixation causes the libido to strongly bind people or imagos, reproduce a certain mode of satisfaction, remain organized according to the characteristic structure of one of its evolutionary phases. The fixation can be manifest and current or constitute a prevalent virtuality that opens the subject the way to a regression. The concept of fixation is, in general, part of a genetic conception involving an ordered progression of libido. But apart from all genetic reference, there is also talk of fixation within the Freudian theory of the unconscious, to designate the mode of inscription of certain representative contents that persist unconsciously in the unconscious, and to which the drive remains attached.

La fijación es un concepto utilizado en psicoanálisis para denominar la ligazón de la libido a determinadas personas, imagos o representaciones psíquicas de los objetos. Sigmund Freud se refiere a ella como: La fijación hace que la libido se una fuertemente a personas o imagos, reproduzca un determinado modo de satisfacción, permanezca organizada según la estructura característica de una de sus fases evolutivas. La fijación puede ser manifiesta y actual o constituir una virtualidad prevalente que abre al sujeto el camino hacia una regresión. El concepto de fijación forma parte, en general, de una concepción genética que implica una progresión ordenada de la libido. Pero, aparte de toda referencia genética, también se habla de fijación dentro de la teoría freudiana del inconsciente, para designar el modo de inscripción de ciertos contenidos representativos que persisten en el inconsciente de forma inalterada, y a los cuales permanece ligada la pulsión.
