A politician is a person who engages in political activities. There are several meanings of the term: ▪ First refers to people linked to public administration, a politician is considered to be any person affiliated to a political party and has been elected or appointed for tasks associated with public bodies, associations or institutions . ▪ Secondly, a politician may refer to any person affiliated with an association or group that engages in partisan activity, regardless of whether they hold any public office. ▪ In non-democratic countries or with problems of representativeness, some people carry out political activities outside the administration, becoming political prisoners. In most countries, the legal system considers politicians elected or appointed as representatives of the people in the maintenance, management and administration of public resources. Said order considers that a politician must watch over the general interest of citizens and keep within a professional ethic of service to the people and not to itself. Un político es una persona que se dedica a realizar actividades políticas. Existen diversas acepciones del término: ▪ En primer lugar se refiere a personas vinculadas a la administración pública, se considera que un político es toda persona afiliada a un partido político y que ha sido elegido o nombrado para tareas asociadas a organismos, asociaciones o instituciones públicas. ▪ En segundo lugar un político puede referirse a cualquier persona afiliada a una asociación o grupo que desarrolle actividad partidaria, con independencia de si ostentan algún cargo público. ▪ En países no democráticos o con problemas de representatividad, algunas personas desarrollan actividades políticas al margen de la administración, llegando a convertirse en presos políticos. En la mayoría de países el ordenamiento jurídico considera a los políticos elegidos o nombrados como representantes del pueblo en el mantenimiento, la gestión y administración de los recursos públicos. Dicho ordenamiento considera que un político debe velar por el interés general de los ciudadanos y mantenerse dentro de una ética profesional de servicio al pueblo y no hacia sí mismo.
