Recensión

It is called recension, or "recensio", in textual criticism, to the initial phase for the realization of a critical edition. The review consists of compiling all the existing materials of the direct diplomatic tradition of a text that is going to be made a critical edition, to later, to rank and relate these materials. For this, all manuscripts, printed matter, photocopies, photographs, microfilms and, more recently, electronic media of the text on which the critical edition is to be made must be gathered. The phase following the recension is the collatio. Sometimes, a recensio, as opposed to the term emendatio, is also called the set of actions prior to the latter: that is, the recension itself, the collatio, the eliminatio codicum descriptorum, to eliminate the codices that are copies of another, and the Classification of materials.

Se denomina recensión, o ''recensio'', en crítica textual, a la fase inicial para la realización de una edición crítica. La recensión consiste en recopilar todos los materiales existentes de la tradición diplomática directa de un texto del que se va a realizar una edición crítica, para, posteriormente, jerarquizar y relacionar dichos materiales. Para ello deberán reunirse todos los manuscritos, impresos, fotocopias, fotografías, microfilmes y, más recientemente, medios electrónicos del texto sobre el que se va a realizar la edición crítica. La fase siguiente a la recensión es la collatio. A veces, se denomina también recensio, en oposición al término emendatio, al conjunto de acciones previas a esta última: es decir, la recensión propiamente dicha, la collatio, la eliminatio codicum descriptorum, eliminar los códices que son copia de otro, y la clasificación de los materiales.
