विशेष— इसकी पत्तियाँ इमली की तरह महीन महीन होती हैं ।
इसकी लकड़ी कुछ सफेदी लिए होती है और उसके ऊपर का
छिलका प्रति वर्ष उतरा करता है कार्तिक से माघ तक
इसका फल रहता है जो गोल कागजी नीबू के बराबर
होता है । इसका ऊपर का छिलका इतना पतला होता
है कि उसकी नसें दिखाई देती हैं । यह स्वाद में कसैलापन लिए
हुए होता है । आयुर्वेद में इसे शीतल, हलका तथा दाह पित्त
और प्रमेह का नाश करनेवाला बतलाया है । इसके संयोग से
त्रिफला, च्यवनप्राश आदि औषध बनते हैं । आवले का मुरब्वा
भी बहुत अच्छा होता है । आँवले की पत्तियों से चमड़ा भी
सिझाया जाता है । इसकी लकड़ी पानी में नहीं सड़ती । इसी
से कूओ के नीमचक आदि इसी से बनते हैं ।
३. विपक्षी को नीचे लाने का कुरती का एक पेंच ।
विशेष— जब विपक्षी का हाथ अपनी गरदन पर रहे, तब अपना
भी वही हाथ उसकी गरादन पर चढ़ावे और दूसरे से
शत्रु के उस हाथ को जो अपनी गरदन पर है झटका देकर
हटाते हुए उसको नीचे लावे । इसका तोड़ विषम पैतरा करे
अथवा शत्रु की गरदन पर का हाथ केहुनी पर से हटाकर
पैतरा बढ़ाते हुए बाहरी टाँग मार गिरावे ।
