एक लता जो बिलकुल तरबूज की
लता की तरह होती है । इनारू । उ०—इंद्रायन दाड़िम विषम
जहाँ न नेकु विवेक ।—भारतेंदु ग्रं०, भा० २, पृ० ६६६ ।
विशेष—सिंध, डेरा इस्माईलखाँ, सुलतान, बहावलपुर तथा दक्षिण
और मध्य भारत में यह आपसे आप उपजती है । इसका
फल नारंगी के बराबर होता है जिसमें खरबूजे की तरह फाँके
कटी होती हैं । पकने पर इसका रंग पीला हो जाता है । लाल
रंग का भी इंद्रायन होता है । यह फल विषैला और रेचक
होता है । अँगरेजी और हिंदुस्तानी दोनों दवाओं में इसका सत
काम आता है । यह फल देखने में बड़ा सुंदर पर अपने कड़ुए-
पन के लिये प्रसिद्ध है ।
मुहा०—इंद्रायन का फल = देखने में अच्छा पर वास्तव में बुरा ।
