लोहे का एक प्रकार का विकार
जो खानों में मिलता है ।
विशेष—यह दो प्रकार का होता है । एक हरा जिसे धातु
कसीस अथवा हरा या हीरा कसीस कहते हैं, दूसरा पीला
जिसे पांशु या 'पुष्प कसीस' कहते हैं । कसौली वस्तु के
साथ मिलने से कसीस काला रंग उत्पन्न करता हैः अतः
यह रँगाई के काम में बहुत आता है । तेजाब में घुले हुए
सोने को अलग करने के लिये हरा कसीस बड़े काम का है ।
वैद्यक के अनुसार कसीस शीतल, कसैला, नेत्रों को हितकारी
तथा विष, कोढ़, कृमि और खुजली को दूर करनेवाली है ।
