विशेष— यह एक घास का बीज हो जो मैदानों, बागों जंगलों
तथा पहाड़ों में होता है । इसकी पत्तियाँ लंबी और टहनी के
दोनों ओर आमने सामने लगती हैं । फल झड़ जाने पर छोटी
धुंड़ियाँ लगती हैं, जिनमें छोटे छोटे दाने झिल्ली में लिपटे
रहते हैं । खाकसीर दो प्रकार की होती है ।—एक छोटी, दूसरी
बड़ी । छोटी का रंग कुछ सुर्खी लिए होता है और बड़ी का
रंग कुछ स्याही लिए होता है । बड़ी से छोटी अधिक कड़ई
होती है । यह घास अरब फारस आदि देशों में होती है ।
