बातप्रकृति, जिनके काटने आदि से मनुष्य के शरीर में वात
का प्रकोप होता है । पित्तप्रकृति, जिनके काटने से पित का
प्रकोप होता है । श्लेष्मप्रकृति, जिनके काटने से कफ कुपित
होता है । त्रिदोषप्रकृति, जिनके काटने से त्रिदोष होता है ।
अगिया (अग्निनमा), ग्वालिन (आवर्तक) आदि को
वातप्रकृति; भिड़ भौरा, ब्रह्मनी (ब्रह्माणिका), पताबिछिया
या छिउँकी (पत्रवृशिचक), कनखजुरा (शतपादक) मकड़ी,
गदहला (गर्दभी) आदि को पित्तप्रकृति तथा काली गोह
आदि को श्लेष्मप्रकृति लिखा है । ऊपर की नामावली से
स्पष्च है कि कीट शब्द के अंतर्गत कुछ रीढ़वाले जंतु भी
आ गए हैं, पर अधिकतर बिना रीढ़वाले जतुओं ही को कीट
कहते है । पाशचात्य जीवततत्वविदों ने इन बिना रीढ़वाले
जतुओं के बहुत से भेद किए हैं, जिनमें कुछ तो आकारपरिवर्तम के विचार से किए गए हैं, कुछ पंख के विचार से
और कुछ मुखाकृति के विचार से । हमारे यहा कीट शब्द के अंतर्गत जिन जीवों को लिया गया हैं, वे सब ऊष्मज और
अंडज हैं । ऊष्मज तो सब कीट हैं, पर सब अंडज कीट नहीं
हैं । जैसे, पक्षी मछली आदि को कीट नहीं नहीं कह सकते ।
२. हीनता या तुच्छाताव्यंजक शब्द । जैसे, छिपकीट = तुच्छ हाथी ।
