होते हैं । कुम्हडा़ दो प्रकार का होता है—एक सफेद, दूसरा
पीला । सफेद रंग के कुम्हडे़ को पेठा कहते हैं । यह खाने में
बहुत फीका सा होता है । लोग इसका मुरब्बा डालते हैं ओर
इसके महीन टुकड़ों को पीठी में मिलाकर बरी भी बनाते हैं ।
पिले कुम्हडे़ का गूदा लाल रंग का और खाने में मिठा होता है । इसकी दो फसले होती हैं—एक गरमी में, दूसरी बरसात
में । गरमी का कुम्हडा़ जमीन पर और बरसात का छप्पर
आदि पर फैलता है । कुम्हडे़ के फल की तरकारी होती है और
फूलों तथा पत्तों का साग बनता है ।

२. कुम्हडे़ का फल ।
मुहा० —कुम्हड़ बतिया = (१) कुम्हडे़ का छोटा फल । (२)
अशक्त और निर्बल मनुष्य । उ०—इहाँ कुम्हडबतिया कोउ
नाहीं । जो तर्जनि देखत मरि जाहीं ।—तुलसी (शब्द०) ।
कुम्हडे़ की बतिया = (१) कुम्हडे़ का छोटा कच्चा फल । (२)
अशक्त और निर्बल मनुष्य ।
