किसी एक बिंदु से समान अंतर पर चारों ओर घूमी हुई
परिधि । चक्कर । गोलाई । वृत्त ।
मुहा०—मडल बाँधना—(१) चारों ओर वृत्त की रेखा के रूप
में फिरना । चक्कर काटना । जैसे, मंडल बाँधकर नाचना ।
(२) चारों ओर घेरना । चारों ओर से छा जाना । जैसे,
बादलों का मंडल बाँधकर बरसना । (३) अँधेरे का चारों
और छा जाना ।
२. गोल फैलाव । वृताकार या अंडाकार विस्तार । गोला । जैसे,
भूमंडल । ३. चंद्रमा वा सूर्य के चारों ओर पड़नेवाला घेरा जो
कभी कभी आकाश में बादलों की बहुत हलकी तह या कुहरा
रहने पर दिखाई पड़ता है । परिवेश । ४. किसी वस्तु का वह
गोल भाग जो अपनी द्दष्टि के संमुख हो । जैसे, चद्रमडल,
