एक लता जिसकी
पत्तियों का लोग साग खाते हैं ।
विशेष—इसकी पत्तियाँ पान की सी गोल पर दल की मोटी
होती हैं । इसमें छोटे छोटे फलों के गुच्छे लगते हैं जिन्हें
पकने पर चिड़ियाँ खाती हैं । पोई दो प्रकार की होती हैं—
एक काले डंठल की, दूसरी हरे डंठल की । बरसात में यह
बहुत उपजाती है । पत्तियों का लोग साग खाते हैं । एक
जंगली पोई भी होती है जिसकी पत्तियाँ लंबोतरी होती हैं ।
इसका साग अच्छा नहीं होता । पोई की लता में रेशे होते
हैं जो रस्सी बटने के काम में आते हैं । वैद्यक में पोई गरम,
रुचिकारक, कफवर्धक और निद्राजनक मानी गई है ।
पर्या०—उपोदकी । कलंबी । पिच्छिला । मोहिनी । विशाला ।
मदशाका । पूतिका ।

१. नरम कल्ला । अंकुर । २. ईख
का कल्ला । ईख की आँख ।
मुहा०—पोई फूटना = ईख में अंकुर निकलना ।
३. गेहूँ, ज्वार, बाजरे आदि का नरम और छोटा पौधा । जई ।
४. गन्ने का पोर ।
