विशेष—इसकी पाल मोटी होती है, पर लकड़ी अधिक कड़ी नहीं

ऋतु के आरंभ तक इसमें फूल रहते हैं । इसके फूल एक इंच के घेरे में गोलाकार सफेद रंग के होते हैं और बहुत से एक
साथ गुच्छे में लगते हैं । इसके फल दस इंच से बीस इंच लंबी
फलियों के आकार के होते हैं जिनकी मोटाई एक अंगुल से
अधिक नहीं होती । ये फल तरकारी के काम में आते हैं । इसके
बीज सफेद रंग के और तिकोने होते हैं । बीजों से उत्पन्न
होने के अतिरिक्त यह डाल लगा देने से भी लग जाता है और
शीघ्र फलने लगता है । यह ओषधि के काम में भी लाया जाता है । कहीं कहीं नीले रंग के फूलोंवाला सहिजन भी पाया
जाता है ।
