विशेष—पहाड़ों तथा मैदानों आदि में कहीं कहीं ऐसे सोते
मिलते हैं जिनका पानी गरम होता है । भिन्न भिन्न स्थानों
में ऐसे सोतों का पानी साधारण गरम से लेकर खौलता
हुआ तक होता है । पानी के गरम होने का मुख्य कारण यह
है कि यह पानी या तो बहुत अधिक गहराई से, या भूगर्भ के अंदर की अग्नि से तपी हुई चट्टानों पर से होता हुआ
आता है । ऐसे स्त्रोतों के जल में बहुधा अनेक प्रकार के
खनिज द्रव्य (जैसे, गंधक, लोहा, अनेक प्रकार के क्षार)
भी मिले होते हैं जिनके कारण उन जलों में बहुत से रोओं
को दूर करने का गुण आ जाता है । भारतवर्ष में तो ऐसे
सोते कम हैं, पर यूरोप और अमेरिका में ऐसे सोते बहुत
पाए जाते हैं, जिन्हें दिखने तथा उनका जल पीने के लिये
बहुत दूर दूर से लोग जाते हैं । बहुत से लोग अनेक प्रकार के रोगों से मुक्त होने के लिये महीनों उनके किनारे रहते
भी हैं । प्रायःजल जितना अधिक गरम होता है, उसमें गुण
भी उतना ही अधिक होता है । ऐसे सोतों के जल में दस्त
लाने, बल बढ़ाने या रक्तविकार आदि दूर करनेवाले खनिज
द्रव्य मिले हुए होते हैं ।
