रहता है । बरसाती तुरई छप्परों या टट्टियों पर फैलाई जाती
है, क्योंकि भूमि में फैलाने से पत्तियों और फलों के सड़ जाने
का डर रहता है । गरमी में भी लोग क्यारियों में इसे बोते हैं
और पानी से तर रखते हैं । गरमी से बचाने पर यह बेल
जमीन ही में फैलती और फलती है । तुरई के फूल पीले रंग के
होते हैं और संध्या के समय खिलते हैं । फल लंबे लंबे हाते हैं
जिनपर लंबाई के बल उभरी हुई नसों को सीधी लकीर
समान अंतर पर होती हैं ।
मुहा०—तुरई का फूल सा = हलकी वा छोटी मोटी चीज की
तरह जल्दी खतम या खर्च बो जानेवाला । इस प्रकार चटपट
चुक जाने या खर्च जानेवाला कि मालूम न हो । जैसे-तुरई के फूल से ये सौ रुपए देखते देखते उठ गए ।
