Vasco da Gama 【1469? ~ 1524] Portuguese voyager. Sailed in Lisbon in 1497, and the next year it reached the Kiyomi peak in the southernmost part of Africa, reached the Kozhikat (current cordode) in India, discovered the Toyo route. In 1524 he became Governor of India, but he died of illness. バスコ‐ダ‐ガマ【Vasco da Gama】 [1469?~1524]ポルトガルの航海者。1497年にリスボンを出航、翌年アフリカ南端の喜望峰を回ってインドのカリカット(現コージコード)に達し、東洋航路を発見。1524年にはインド総督となるが、病死。
