Nairobi (English / Swahili: Nairobi) is the capital and largest city of the Republic of Kenya. It is one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities in Africa and the population of urban areas in 2010 is 3.36 million and it is the 99th largest in the world. Climate is relatively cool, located close to the equator but at an altitude of about 1600 m. The main languages are Swahili and English. The name Nairobi is derived from Ewaso Nyirobi which means "cold water" in Masai. As the central city of eastern Africa, many international organizations place headquarters or representatives of Africa.
