Weliczkankenko [Welchka rock salt pit] "Kopalnia soli Wieliczka" Salt pit in Welchka, the southern part of Poland, in the suburbs of Krakow. Mining began in the 10th century and became royal ownership in the 13th century. The mining pit is stretched over nine layers from about 60 meters to 330 meters underground, and its total length is 300 kilometers. At 101 meters below the Basilica of Saint Kinga, where the altar and statues are all made of rock salt. It was registered as a World Heritage (cultural heritage) in 1978. Bieliczka Salt Mine. ウェリチカ‐がんえんこう【ウェリチカ岩塩坑】 《Kopalnia soli Wieliczka》ポーランド南部、クラクフ近郊の町ウェリチカにある岩塩坑。10世紀に採掘が始まり、13世紀に王室所有となった。地下約60メートルから330メートルまで9層にわたって採掘坑が張りめぐらされ、その全長は300キロメートルに及ぶ。地下101メートルには祭壇や彫像がすべて岩塩でできている聖キンガ礼拝堂がある。1978年に世界遺産(文化遺産)に登録された。ビエリチカ岩塩坑。
