However, in the case of nodular thyroid gland, if it is cancer, the cancer cells may be reversely transplanted and the nodule may be removed. 갑상샘침생검 실버로 만든 침으로 경피적으로 갑상샘 조직을 채취하는 검사이고 그 조직을 조직학적으로 검사한다. 만성갑상샘염을 진단확정할 경우에 침생검은 국소적으로 행할 수 있다는 의미에서 자주 이루어진다. 만성인 염증은 보통 미만성이고 채취한 조직소견은 갑상샘전체를 반영하고 있는 것으로 생각해도 좋다. 다만 결절성 갑상샘종의 경우, 만일 암이라면 암세포를 반대로 이식하거나 하는 수도 있고 또 결절을 벗어나거나 하기 때문에 부적당하다.
