Ssireum is a movement that is unique to Korea. It is a game in which two people grab a crotch and a pants waist dancing and compete with each other for strength and wisdom. The game, which is similar to ssurum, is distributed all over the world such as Mongolia, Japan, China, and Vietnam. Although the timing and formation process of wrestling can not be known frankly, It seems to have already been passed down from ancient times. It is said that it started in the period of Jinmuwang in the book "Oh Ju-yeon's Sentence Computation in Goshen,". It is called Chinese characters and Chinese people are called Koryo period or Ryo. It is performed mainly in the monsoon season, and every year on the New Year, there is a ssireum contest. The winner was awarded the bull. Hyundai 's wrestling was first held in 1912 at Daesungsa. Although it was done under Japanese rule, it was maintained constantly, and it reached its heyday in the 1980s.

씨름은 한국 고유의 운동으로, 두 사람이 샅바나 바지 허리춤을 잡고 힘과 슬기를 겨루어 상대방을 넘어뜨리는 경기이다. 씨름과 비슷한 경기는 몽골, 일본, 중화권, 베트남 등 세계 각지에 분포해 있으며, 씨름이 시작된 시기와 형성 과정은 솔직하게 알 수는 없으나, 외부에서 자신을 보호하고자 사용했던 기술이 체계화 되면서 하나의 경기가 된 것으로, 이미 고대시대부터 이어져 온 것으로 본다. 조선 헌종 때 쓰인 책 《오주연문장전산고 五州衍文長箋散稿》에서는 진 무왕 때 시작되었다고 한다. 한자로 상박이라 하며, 중국인들은 고려기 또는 요교라고도 하였다. 주로 단오 때에 행하여지며, 매년 설날에도 씨름대회가 벌어진다. 우승자는 황소를 상으로 받았다. 현대의 씨름은 1912년, 단성사에서 최초로 열렸다. 비록, 일제치하 때 이루어졌지만 끊임없이 유지되었고, 1980년대에는 전성기를 맞는다.
