Euro

The euro is the official currency of Eurozone countries, Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia and Spain. Lithuania adopts the euro as the official currency of Lithuania's lithium on January 1, 2015. The euro is the sole currency for 320 million European citizens. With a circulation of € 610 billion in December 2006, the euro is the world's highest combined currency, surpassing the US dollar. Euro was introduced to the world market in 1999 as an accounting currency and began to be used physically on 1 January 2002. It replaces the previous European Currency Unit at 1: 1. The Euro is managed and controlled by the European Central Bank, headquartered in Frankfurt, and the European Central Bank System comprising the central bank of each Eurozone member country. The ECB has the sole power of determining currency policy, while ESCB helps in printing, manufacturing and distributing paper and coins in each member country, as well as the operation of the Eurozone payment system. Euro merupakan mata wang rasmi di negara-negara Eurozone, iaitu Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Finland, Perancis, Jerman, Greece, Ireland, Itali, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Belanda, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia dan Sepanyol. Lithuania menerima pakai euro sebagai mata wang rasmi di tempat litas Lithuania pada 1 Januari 2015. Euro merupakan mata wang tunggal untuk 320 juta warga Eropah. Dengan jumlah edaran sebanyak €610 bilion pada Disember 2006, euro merupakan mata wang yang mempunyai nilai tergabung yang tertinggi di dunia, melebihi dolar AS. Euro diperkenalkan kepada pasaran dunia pada tahun 1999 sebagai mata wang perakaunan dan mula digunakan secara fizikal pada 1 Januari 2002. Ia menggantikan Unit Mata Wang Eropah terdahulu pada kadar 1:1. Euro diurus dan dikawal oleh Bank Pusat Eropah, yang beribu pejabat di Frankfurt, dan Sistem Bank-bank Pusat Eropah yang terdiri daripada bank pusat setiap negara ahli Eurozone. ECB mempunyai kuasa tunggal menentukan dasar mata wang, manakala ESCB membantu dalam mencetak, mengilang dan mengagihkan kertas wang dan syiling di setiap negara ahli, serta operasi segala sistem pembayaran Eurozone.
