Homeostasis is referred to as the retention or regulatory mechanism of a constant internal dynamic environment. Homeostasis is one of the most important concepts in biology. The physiological field may classify the internal regulatory homeostasis mechanism of the organism. Homeostasis responses occur in every organism. There are 2 types of constants or steady state in homeostasis ie ▪ Closed systems - Static balance ▪ Where internal conditions are unchanged such as closed bottles. ▪ Open systems - Dynamic balance ▪ Where a constant inner state, though this system is constantly changing for example a pool at the bottom of a waterfall. Organisms have two environments: ▪ Outdoor environment, which surrounds the organism as a whole. The organisms will live in harmony with non-living organisms and objects. ▪ The inner environment of a dynamic environment in the human body comprising the fluid that surrounds the community of cells that forms the body. Biosis is a component of life that encompasses all living organisms.

Terdapat 2 jenis pemalar atau keadaan mantap dalam homeostasis iaitu ▪ Sistem tertutup - Keseimbangan statik ▪ Dimana keadaan dalam yang tidak berubah seperti botol tertutup. ▪ Sistem terbuka - Keseimbangan dinamik ▪ Dimana keadaan dalam yang malar walaupun sistem ini terus berubah contohnya seperti sebuah kolam di dasar air terjun. Organisma mempunyai 2 persekitaran iaitu: ▪ Persekitaran luar iaitu persekitaran yang mengelilingi organisma secara keseluruhan. Organisma akan hidup secara berkongsi dengan organisma-organisma dan objek-objek yang bukan hidupan. ▪ Persekitaran dalam iaitu persekitaran dinamik dalam badan manusia yang terdiri daripada bendalir yang mengelilingi komuniti sel-sel yang membentuk badan. Biosis ialah komponen hidupan iaitu meliputi semua organisma hidupan.
