Hospital

The hospital is where patients receive treatment from doctors, medical assistants, nurses, midwives or other health workers. The size of this center is much larger than polyclinics, clinics, health centers or village clinics. Since the time of the Prophet s.a.w, the medical team has accompanied an injured Muslim army. The medical team is considered the earliest 'hospital' in Islamic history. With the development of Islamic knowledge and expertise in medicine, more hospitals are established. These hospitals provide services and treatments to the general public irrespective of illness or degree. Patients are only segregated by sex. Nurses care for female patients, male nurses treat male patients. In Malaysia, the largest and most important hospital is the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital. Other hospitals are Selayang Hospital, Serdang Hospital, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital, Putrajaya Hospital, University Hospital and others. Almost every town has a government-built and government-funded hospital and practically all services are free to date.

Hospital ialah tempat pesakit menerima rawatan daripada doktor, pembantu perubatan, jururawat, bidan atau petugas kesihatan yang lain. Saiz pusat pesihatan ini lebih besar daripada poliklinik, klinik, pusat kesihatan atau klinik desa. Semenjak zaman Rasulullah s.a.w, pasukan perubatan telah mengiringi tentera Islam yang tercedera. Pasukan perubatan ini dianggap sebagai 'hospital' terawal dalam sejarah Islam. Dengan berkembangnya ilmu dan kepakaran Islam dalam bidang perubatan, lebih banyak hospital didirikan. Hospital-hospital ini menyediakan perkhidmatan dan rawatan kepada orang umum tanpa mengira penyakit atau darjat. Pesakit hanya diasingkan mengikut jantina. Jururawat wanita merawat pesakit wanita, jururawat lelaki merawat pesakit lelaki. Di Malaysia, hospital yang terbesar dan terpenting ialah Hospital Besar Kuala Lumpur. Lain-lain hospital ialah Hospital Selayang, Hospital Serdang, Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Hospital Putrajaya, Hospital Universiti dan lain-lain. Hampir setiap bandar mempunyai hospital yang dibina dan dibiayai oleh kerajaan dan boleh dikatakan semua perkhidmatan adalah percuma sehingga kini.
