India

India, or its official name, Republic of India, is located in South Asia and covers most of the subcontinent of India is the second most populous country and democracy, with a thousand million inhabitants and over a hundred different languages. The Indian economy is the fourth largest in the world, in terms of purchasing power parity. India is bordered by Bangladesh, Myanmar, the People's Republic of China, Bhutan, Nepal and Pakistan, with Sri Lanka and Maldives across the Indian Ocean. The biggest cities are Bombay in South-West and Calcutta on the banks of the Ganges. The Indian name comes from the word Sindhu, the local name Indus river. The books of Vedas did not give a specific name to the land of India. Various political parties have their own names for Hindustani, Hindu Rashtra and Bharath. India is also known as Hindustan, but this name was set aside after independence in 1947 because India chose to be a secular state. India, atau nama rasminya,Republik India, terletak di Asia Selatan dan merangkumi kebanyakan subbenua India merupakan negara kedua terpadat penduduk dan negara demokrasi, dengan seribu juta penduduk dan lebih seratus bahasa berlainan. Ekonomi India adalah keempat terbesar di dunia, dari segi pariti kuasa beli. India bersempadan dengan Bangladesh, Myanmar, Republik Rakyat China, Bhutan, Nepal dan Pakistan, dengan Sri Lanka dan Maldives diseberang laut Lautan India. Bandar terbesar adalah Bombay di South-West dan Calcutta di tepi sungai Ganges. Nama India berasal dari perkataan Sindhu, nama tempatan sungai Indus. Kitab-kitab Vedas tidak memberikan nama tertentu kepada tanah India. Pelbagai parti politik mempunyai nama tersendiri bagi India sesetengahnya adalah Hindustan, Hindu Rashtra dan Bharath. India juga dikenali sebagai Hindustan, tetapi nama ini diketepikan selepas kemerdekaan pada 1947 disebabkan India memilih untuk menjadi negara sekular.
