Kukup

Kukup is a mukim located in the south of Johor, in the Pontian district, near Pontian Kecil, Tanjung Piai and overlooking the Straits of Malacca and the Straits of Johor. Among the locations here are Permas Town, Kampung Permas Kechil, Kampung Sungai Durian, Kampung Sungai Kuali and Kampung Serkat Barat. Kukup town position is hidden to the Straits of Malacca Straits. Kukup has a jetty or fishermen's fishing boats and ferries to Karimun Island, Indonesia and others. Kukup is suitable as a jetty / fishing base because it is protected from strong winds by Kukup Island. Many of its inhabitants, especially Chinese and Malays work in the fisheries and agricultural sectors - oil palm. Teens attend school at Kukup Kebangsaan. Some restaurants are built for seafood fans especially Chinese visitors. The twilight scenery is quite interesting as the sun set slowly around 7.00 pm can be seen and recorded. The area is easy and fast developed by the private sector as the Chinese are involved in the business, tourism, transportation and trade sectors. Kukup merupakan sebuah mukim yang terletak di selatan negeri Johor, dalam daerah Pontian, berhampiran dengan Pontian Kecil, Tanjung Piai dan menghadap Selat Melaka dan Selat Johor. Antara lokasi di sini ialah Bandar Permas,Kampung Permas Kechil,Kampung Sungai Durian,Kampung Sungai Kuali dan Kampung Serkat Barat. Kedudukan bandar Kukup tersorok ke tepi pantai Selat Melaka. Kukup mempunyai sebuah jeti atau pangkalan bot nelayan dan feri menuju ke Pulau Karimun, di Indonesia dan lain-lain. Kukup sesuai dijadikan jeti /pangkalan nelayan kerana dilindungi dari angin kencang oleh Pulau Kukup. Ramai penduduknya terutama Cina dan Melayu bekerja di sektor perikanan dan pertanian - kelapa sawit. Golongan remaja bersekolah di Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Kukup. Beberapa buah restoran dibina bagi peminat makanan laut terutama pengunjung Cina. Pemandangan waktu senja cukup menarik kerana matahari yang terbenam perlahan-lahan sekitar jam 7.00 petang dapat disaksikan dan dirakam. Kawasan ini mudah dan cepat dimajukan oleh pihak swasta kerana ramainya kaum Cina yang terlibat dalam sektor perniagaan, pelancongan, pengangkutan dan perdagangan.
