Turku is a town in south-western Finland, at the mouth of the Aurajoki River. The capital of the country until 1812, the oldest Finnish city. University founded in 1640. At present the capital of the Varsinais-Suomi region, until 2009 the province of Western Finland, an important port. Expanded industry. The city team consists of: Raisio, Kaarina and Naantali. It is an attractive tourist destination. It also works there. Polish Honorary Consulate. Very strong influences of Swedish culture. The name Turku comes from the Old Slavonic word tǔrgǔ meaning "market, market".

Turku – miasto w południowo-zachodniej Finlandii, u ujścia rzeki Aurajoki. Stolica kraju do roku 1812, najstarsze miasto fińskie. Uniwersytet założony w 1640 roku. Obecnie stolica regionu Varsinais-Suomi, do 2009 roku prowincji Finlandia Zachodnia, ważny port. Rozwinięty przemysł. W skład zespołu miejskiego wchodzą: Raisio, Kaarina i Naantali. Jest atrakcyjnym turystycznie miejscem. Działa tam także m.in. polski konsulat honorowy. Bardzo silne wpływy kultury szwedzkiej. Nazwa Turku pochodzi od starosłowiańskiego słowa tǔrgǔ oznaczającego "rynek, targ".
