Abulia

Abulia

Abulia - a clinical symptom in the form of a disorder of activity, consisting of a morbid deficiency or lack of will, which manifests itself in inability to make decisions and actions. It is accompanied by a decrease in psychomotor propulsion in some neurotic and psychotic disorders. Symptom characteristic for endogenous depression, schizophrenia and frontal lobe damage. Sometimes, instead of the term abulia, the word "hypobulia" is used, emphasizing the fact that it is a reduction in activity rather than a complete disappearance.
