Indos, giraffe, indosare (on the back of the indorsare) on the reverse of 'on' and 'dorsum' on the back) - declaration of will of the transferor a bill of exchange, a check (or other negotiable security, provided the law provides such an opportunity). According to the civil code, indos is a written statement placed on the securities of the order and containing at least the signature of the transferor, meaning the transfer of rights to another person. The transfer of rights resulting from such document is necessary to publish it and the existence of a continuous series of indices. The person who transfers the bill (check) by indos is an indosant, and the person to whom the transfer is made is an indosatarian. Indos must be unconditional (the conditions on which the indos are deemed to be unsigned) and must transfer all the rights from the bill (check) - the partial indo is invalid.

Indos, żyro, indosament (z wł. indosso 'na grzbiecie' ze śrdw.łac. indorsare 'potwierdzać (uwagą, podpisem) na odwrocie’ od łac. in 'na' i dorsum 'grzbiet') – oświadczenie woli zbywającego o przeniesieniu własności weksla, czeku (lub innego zbywalnego papieru wartościowego, o ile ustawy przewidują taką możliwość). Zgodnie z kodeksem cywilnym, indos jest pisemnym oświadczeniem umieszczonym na papierze wartościowym na zlecenie i zawierającym co najmniej podpis zbywającego, oznaczającym przeniesienie praw na inna osobę. Do przeniesienia praw wynikających z takiego dokumentu niezbędne jest jego wydanie oraz istnienie nieprzerwanego szeregu indosów. Osoba przenosząca weksel (czek) przez indos to indosant, zaś osoba, na rzecz której następuje przeniesienie to indosatariusz. Indos musi być bezwarunkowy (warunki, od których uzależniono indos, uważa się za nienapisane) i musi przenosić całość praw z weksla (czeku) – indos częściowy jest nieważny.
