Ryolite, liparite, riolite - acidic exuberant or hypabusic, with a composition similar to granite. In the QAPF classification chart, ryolite occupies field 3. According to the TAS classification, ryolite and alkaline-feldspitious ryolite occupy the R. RYOLITE field consists mostly of quartz and feldspars, especially potassium and sodium. The structure of the rhyolite is partly crystalline, porphyritic or afanite, the texture is disordered and massive or porous. Ryolit usually occurs as lava domes, sills, lava covers, but does not create large lava flows due to its high viscosity. Ryolites older than the Alpine, such as the Carbons and Permian, are called porphyres. This rock is sour. In the rhyolites are often agates, precious ornamental stones. Ryolites are usually gray, reddish or pinkish. In Poland you can find it in the southern part of the Cracow Upland and in the Sudetes: in the Kaczawskie Mountains, in the Kaczawskie Hills and in the Izerskie Foothills - and in the Stone Mountains, the Wałbrzyskie Mountains and in the Wałbrzych Hills.

Ryolit, liparyt, riolit – kwaśna skała wylewna albo hipabysalna, o składzie podobnym do granitu. Na diagramie klasyfikacyjnym QAPF ryolit zajmuje pole 3. Zgodnie z klasyfikacją TAS ryolit i alkaliczno-skaleniowy ryolit zajmują pole R. Ryolit składa się w największej części z kwarcu i skaleni, zwłaszcza potasowych oraz sodowych. Struktura ryolitu jest częściowo krystaliczna, porfirowa lub afanitowa, tekstura bezładna i masywna lub porowata. Ryolit występuje najczęściej jako kopuły lawowe, sille, pokrywy lawowe, ale nie tworzy dużych potoków lawowych, co jest spowodowane jego dużą lepkością. Ryolity starsze niż alpejskie, np. karbońskie i permskie, nazywane są porfirami. Skała ta ma odczyn kwaśny. W ryolitach często występują agaty, cenne kamienie ozdobne. Ryolity najczęściej mają kolor szary, czerwonawy lub różowawy. W Polsce można go znaleźć w południowej części Wyżyny Krakowskiej i w Sudetach: w Górach Kaczawskich, na Pogórzu Kaczawskim i Pogórzu Izerskim – oraz w Górach Kamiennych, Górach Wałbrzyskich i na Pogórzu Wałbrzyskim –.
