Ultrametamorphism is a process of intensive regional metamorphism occurring on the border of magmatism and the higher zone covered by catalanic metamorphism. This process leads to the melting of the easily fused components of the rock and the formation of a secondary magma alloy called migma in its solid residues. This alloy can crystallize on the spot or it can be extruded by the prevailing pressure at higher levels of the earth's crust. It is believed that ultrametamorphism usually occurs at significant depths in the temperature range of about 600-700 oC and at a pressure of about 0.5-0.8 GPa. Very often ultrametamorphic processes are accompanied by the active activity of water and other dissolved minerals. The most common example of ultrametamorphism is migmatization and its product migmatyt.

Ultrametamorfizm jest procesem intensywnego metamorfizmu regionalnego zachodzącym na pograniczu magmatyzmu i wyżejległej strefy objętej metamorfizmem katazonalnym. Proces ten prowadzi do upłynnienia łatwo topliwych składników skały i powstania wtórnego stopu magmowego zwanego migmą w jej litych pozostałościach. Stop ten może krystalizować na miejscu lub może być wyciskany przez panujące ciśnienie w wyższe poziomy skorupy ziemskiej. Uważa się, że ultrametamorfizm zachodzi najczęściej na znacznych głębokościach w przedziale temperaturowym ok. 600-700 oC i przy ciśnieniu około 0,5-0,8 GPa. Nierzadko procesom ultrametamorficznym towarzyszy aktywna działalność wody oraz innych rozpuszczonych w niej substancji mineralnych. najpowszechniejszym przykładem ultrametamorfizmu jest migmatyzacja oraz jej produkt → migmatyt.
