Aaru or Sekhet-Aaru, in Egyptian mythology, represents the paradise and abode of those who transposed the judgment of Osiris. Only the souls that weighed exactly the same as the feather of the goddess Ma'at were allowed to begin a long and perilous journey to Aaru, where it would exist in pleasure for all eternity. The ancient Egyptians believed that the soul resided in the heart, and those whose heart does not correspond to the weight of Ma'at's pen, because of their sins, were excluded from Aaru.
