Auckland is the largest metropolitan area of ​​New Zealand. Although Wellington is the capital of New Zealand, Auckland is the most important city, being the most populous and financial capital of the country. With a population of approximately 1.4 million inhabitants, counting metropolitan region, Auckland holds about 31% of the country's population. It was founded in 1840 and was the capital of New Zealand until 1865. At 37 degrees south latitude, on the North Island, the city of Auckland is situated on a strait that separates two natural harbors: the port of Manukau, open to the Sea of Tasmania to the west and Waitemata, which opens to the Gulf of Hauraki from the Pacific Ocean to the east. One of the characteristics of the city is that it is located on a volcano and there are a large number of geysers on the site. Auckland has several positive aspects.
