Bibliomania

Bibliomania

Bibliomania is an obsessive-compulsive disorder, which consists of collecting and collecting books at such a level that it can cause a deterioration of social relations between the person involved and the closest ones. Bibliomania is characterized by a collection of books of no value, both for the bibliomaniac and for a collection. The bibliomaniac can acquire large quantities of the same book, and of the same edition, even if they have no meaning for them. An example of this disorder is the character played by Mel Gibson in The Conspiracy Theory, who suffered from a form of induced bibliomania, which led him to buy a copy of JD Salinger's Catcher in the Rye, all the time who was leaving his apartment. Wiktionary does not yet have an entry for bibliomania.
