Leucita

Leucita

Leucita is the natural aluminum and potassium silicate, a mineral of the feldspathoid group. It occurs in so-called alkaline magmas where the proportion of Si in relation to Al, K and Na is insufficient to form feldspar, giving rise to a group of minerals called feldspathoids of chemical formulas similar to feldspars. Its name comes from the Greek leucos meaning white because of its white color. Color: colorless, gray, white, grayish white ▪ Fracture: conchoidal ▪ Transparency: transparent to translucent ▪ Hardness: 6 ▪ Density: 2.47g / cm3 ▪ Habit: crystalline. Common as well-formed trapezohedral crystals ▪ Toughness: friable ▪ Trace: white Optical and Crystallographic Properties ▪ Crystalline System: pseudo-isometric. ▪ Under polarized light: isotropic ▪ Refractive index: n = 1,508-1,511. Propriedades Físicas ▪ Brilho: vítreo ▪ Clivagem:indistinta ▪ Cor:incolor, cinza, branca, branca cinzenta ▪ Fratura: conchoidal ▪ Transparência: transparente a translúcida ▪ Dureza: 6 ▪ Densidade:2,47g/cm3 ▪ Hábito:cristalina. Comum como cristais trapezoédricos bem formados ▪ Tenacidade: friável ▪ Traço: branco Propriedades Óticas e Cristalográficas ▪ Sistema Cristalino: pseudo-isométrica. ▪ Sob luz polarizada: isotrópico ▪ Índice de refração: n=1.508-1.511.
