Pantropical

Pantropical

Pantropical is the term given in biogeography to taxa whose distribution covers the tropical regions of all continents, ie, they are present in tropical regions of Africa, Asia in the Americas. Among the organisms with this type of distribution are the genera Acacia and Bacopa. The concept of pantropical distribution gave rise to two complementary geographical distributions: ▪ Neotropical - when the taxon occurs in the tropical region of the New World, this is of the Americas; ▪ Paleotropical - when the geographic occurrence of the taxon covers the tropical region of the Old World, ie Africa and Asia.
