Airbus GmbH / S.A.S. is a European aircraft manufacturing company, founded in 1970, through an agreement between France, Germany and the UK that wanted to create competition for the US monopoly on the airplane market. The company is part of the EADS European concern and is a direct competitor of Boeing. As the company's headquarters in Toulouse, France, Airbus produces about half of the world's airplanes. The company is one of the world's two largest aircraft manufacturers and has 57,000 employees.
